Human Rights

The PSAC BC Region has three Human Rights Committees who meet regularly to in person and via conference call to discuss issues and plan events relating to PSAC's Aboriginal, PWD, GLBT, and Racially Visible caucus members.

The BC Region also has four Regional Council members who represent equity-seeking groups. They are responsible for PSAC members within their constituencies and speak for them at the Council, they seek to promote the activism of PSAC members within these constituencies, and they ensure and promote representation for their constituencies throughout our Union.

This is a call out to PSAC equity activists (Aboriginal Peoples, Racialized Workers, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Trans Members, and Members with Disabilities), Regional Women's Committee (RWC) members, and Young worker activists (30 or younger) to participate in the upcoming Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) National Bargaining Conference.The CFIA National Bargaining Conference will take place January 26-28, 2015 at the Marriott Residence Inn, Ottawa.

A new study published by the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) entitled Narrowing the Gap: The difference that public sector wages make reports that when comparing similar occupations, the differences in wages between the public and the private sectors are negligible.
